Communication

Diocese Communication:

The Diocese uses a variety of communication methods to reach not just Wyoming communities, but nationally and internationally, as well. Regular communication is important and is what connects us as a Christian community.

While meeting face-to-face is a wonderful way to connect and renew friendships, the only time the Diocese (as a whole) comes together is at convention time. Even then, only a fraction of the 7,500 Wyoming Episcopalians are represented.  To help bridge the times apart, and to also connect more people, many electronic communication methods are employed.

Video Conferencing:
The Diocese uses two video conference systems. One is a desktop conference system called WebEx, and the other a full conference network.

WebEx allows for up to 25 users to connect through their computer into a web-based conferencing system and use their computer’s microphone instead of a telephone. The program also allows for video. WebEx has become an invaluable tool for the Diocese, and most phone conferences have been replaced with WebEx. In addition to the audio and video aspects, the meeting host can also share documents and presentations. For those participants without a computer, WebEx allows for a traditional phone call to be made into the system, too.

Another conference system is a full motion, conference room network in 9 location around Wyoming. The system uses LifeSize (brand name) conference equipment hooked to 42” LCD monitors on portable carts. The system is being installed in the Diocese offices on February 1. The other site locations are currently under review and will be announced in mid-February.

Online Learning:
The Diocese uses an online learning system called, Moodle. Moodle is a free and open source program that allows for workshops, meetings, and even classes to take place via the web. Currently, the online learning is being used for the Apostolic Teams and a Latino Workshop is being developed.
