Step II: Planting the Seed
A) Read and study John 6:1-14. Offer a prayer for this meeting. B) 1: Brainstorm ideas for mission projects, puhng all ideas up on a large sheet of paper without editing. After all ideas are recorded, ask for explanations and deeper reflection and discussion about each. You may want to group similar ideas together. 2: After a period of prayer, ask each person to put a 1, 2 and 3 by their three top choices for a mission project. Sometimes a group will come to consensus quickly by this method. If the choice is not clear, discard any ideas which are not as popular and discuss the ones left before again asking people to prioritize. Repeat until consensus is reached. (Members may not be in complete agreement but at least agree to support the decision.) C) Prepare for next meeting: In some way, let members who have not been present know of the decision made. Commit to (and ask others to) rest this decision in their hearts and pray for clarity about each member's involvement in the Mustard Seed project. Close with prayer. Going Deeper – Have a small group interview members of the congregation about the times they have reached out to those in need, noting both experiences and gifts for ministry that these members may have and could offer. |
